Modified Bitumen Asphalt Roofing Systems (Flat – Low Slope Roofing)
Modified bitumen (SBS) asphalt roofing systems have been in use for many years and are used in both residential and commercial low slope roofing applications. They are typically installed over polyisocyanurate insulation systems or lightweight insulating concrete systems. Modified built up roofing systems are typically 2ply or 4ply, with each layer being applied either with hot asphalt or by torch. System warranties are available for typically 20 or more years. BUR modified roofs are best suited for commercial flat roofs, which may have significant traffic from other trades where a single ply membrane system might not be suitable. The come in highly reflective (SRI) coatings for energy savings and FPL rebates.
